Hospital administrators and city officials confirmed the relocation this week, citing increased demand for services, limited expansion space at the current site, and a long-term vision for more patient-centered care as driving factors behind the decision.

The new facility, spanning over 200,000 square feet, will be located just off I-83, offering easier access for patients traveling from surrounding rural areas. Ample parking, expanded entrances, and direct access to public transportation routes will make the new Greenridge Medical Center more convenient for patients and staff alike.
“We’ve outgrown our current footprint,” said CEO Dr. Carla Benton. “This move allows us to reimagine how we deliver care—by designing spaces with patient comfort, safety, and speed of service in mind.”
The new site will feature:
- A larger emergency department with double the current bed capacity
- Expanded surgical suites and advanced diagnostic imaging services
- Dedicated wings for maternal health, orthopedics, and outpatient procedures
- Healing gardens and natural light to enhance patient recovery environments
Streamlining Operations and Expanding Services
In addition to increased capacity, the relocation is expected to streamline hospital operations by consolidating departments currently spread across multiple aging buildings. Physicians and nursing teams will benefit from modernized workspaces, upgraded infrastructure, and improved internal logistics.
One key challenge the hospital is preparing for is the moving medical equipment, which must be handled with extreme care and coordination to avoid disruptions in care.
